Asian stocks advance

MUMBAI: Asian stocks rose on Tuesday after prices of metals including copper and zinc gained. The Morgan Stanley Capital International Asia-Pacific Index added 0.4 per cent to 158.11.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 0.2 per cent to 16,348.36 while the broader Topix index added 0.5 per cent in Japan, where exchanges were shut yesterday for a holiday.

Markets in South Korea and Taiwan are closed for a second day. Benchmarks also declined in Hong Kong, Thailand, New Zealand, and Indonesia.
