Mamata removes chairmen of all Railway Recruitment Boards

NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee has ordered removal of chairmen of all Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) across the country, appointed during the tenure of RJD chief Mr Lalu Prasad.

A senior railway official said the Ministry has appointed new chairmen of 20 RRBs as part of a revamping exercise. The orders for the appointment of the new chairmen were passed two days back.

It is learnt all these chairmen were appointed during the tenure of former railway minister Mr Lalu Prasad. A senior railway official is appointed in the post of RRB chairman for tenure of three years.

The RRBs are situated at 20 cities across the country. In recent times, some of them were mired in controversy with allegations of largescale irregularities and repeated question paper leak in RRB exams.

The massive revamping exercise is aimed at streamlining the recruitment process in RRBs, officials said. - PTI
