General MMTC sells jewellery worth Rs 13 crore at gold festival NEW DELHI: MMTC, country's leading bullion trader, on Wednesday said it has sold jewellery worth Rs 13 crore during a 10-day festival, organised to mark the occasion of Akshaya Trithya. "The festival was a huge success with sales touching a record Rs 13 crore," MMTC said in a statement here. The 20th edition of 'Festival of Gold', organised in the national capital, was aimed at creating awareness among customers to buy hallmarked jewel lery guaranteed for purity. MMTC is also planning to expand its operations and enter the retail jewellery market by joining hands with leading retail chains in the country, it said. It is also in the process of setting up a medallion unit and refinery in collaboration with a leading international company near Sohna in Haryana, which is expected to be operational by end of 2009, the statement added. - PTI
