LONDON: British Wi-Fi technology major Nomad Digital has entered into a joint venture with Indian company Zylog Systems to provide wireless Internet access to India's massive railway network.

The Newcastle-based Nomad Digital is a market leader in the provision of mobile wireless services for transportation, while Zylog supplies a range of IT products and solutions to its customers across multiple sectors such as banking, insurance and teleco m.

“We have identified India as a market that has huge potential for us. India's rail network is one of the fastest growing in the world and will help us to continue to add more jobs over the course of the year,” Chief Executive of Nomad, Mr Graeme Lowdon s aid.

“We are now looking at ways to roll out our other services in the country, including on-board entertainment services and VoIP.”

The firm recently raised 6 million pounds to fund growth and further investment into its technology, including the world's longest broadband corridor on the 600km London to Glasgow route.
