RBI measures in offing, says Finance Secretary

NEW DELHI: The Finance Ministry today said it expects the RBI to take monetary measures to help tame the inflation, which has soared to a 13-year high of 11.05 per cent.

"We expect the RBI to take some monetary measures,'' the Finance Secretary, Mr D Subba Rao told reporters here. He said the RBI Governor, Dr Y V Reddy had detailed discussions with the Finance Minister, Mr P Chidambaram and later met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh. However, Mr Rao said that the inflationary pressures are likely to continue for next few months because of base effect. - PTI
