General Centre assures 100 MW of power to TN CHENNAI: Facing an acute shortage of power for the past one month, Tamil Nadu has now been assured 100 MW of power daily by the Centre. The Union Power Minister, Mr Sushilkumar Shinde gave this assurance to State Electricity Minister, Mr Arcot N Veeraswamy in Delhi on Thursday, an official press release said. Mr Shinde conveyed this to the Chief Minister, Mr M Karunanidhi, now on a visit to Delhi, after he took up the matter with Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, it said. Mr Shinde also met Mr Karunanidhi and Mr Veeraswamy last evening at Tamil Nadu House, where they are staying, and discussed the matter. The Union Power Minister discussed the matter with ministry officials and assured Mr Veeraswamy of 100 MW of power daily, the release added. - PTI
