IBM bags deal from AP Grameen Vikas Bank

MUMBAI: Global IT consulting firm, IBM, has bagged a deal from the Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank (APGVB) to enhance the rural bank's information infrastructure across 530 branches.

APGVB, sponsored by the State Bank of India, will use IBM's hardware platform to run its mission critical core banking application for data protection at all hours, the company said in a press release.

“IBM is happy to engage with AP Grameen Vikas Bank in their vision of transforming lives of rural citizens in the country. We will continue to support their endeavours and enable their ongoing operations and future expansion programs,” IBM India/ South A sia, Vice President, General Business, Systems and Technology Group, Mr Ajay Mittal, said.

“With this win, IBM has once again proved to be the preferred vendor for mid-sized organizations who are focused on cost-efficiency without compromising on performance,” Mr Mittal added.

SS Computer Shoppe, IBM's business partner, created a flexible solution for the regional rural bank that ensures enhanced performance and better availability than competitive servers.

The IBM solution helps simplify the client's environment without sacrificing performance or availability and improves service time to APGVB customers. - PTI
