Banking & Finance BNP Paribas appoints new Country Head MUMBAI: BNP Paribas on Thursday announced the appointment of Mr Jacques Michel as the CEO & Country Manager for BNP Paribas India. He succeeds Mr Frederic Amoudru, who has been in this position for 6 years. In his new capacity, Mr Jacques Michel will be responsible for further enhancing the growth of BNP Paribas’ franchise with an emphasis on extending client coverage and intensifying links with the Indian business community, with whom the bank has already had strong relationships, a press release issued here stated. Mr Jacques Michel will develop and reinforce the BNP Paribas partnerships that form a crucial part of its Indian strategy, the release said, adding he is a seasoned banker and has experience across market cycles as well as a comprehensive knowledge of th e Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining BNP Paribas India, Mr Michel was Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Risk Officer, Fortis Asia- Pacific based in Hong Kong since January 2008. He has worked in Asia for 18 years, 10 of which have been in Hong Kong. Mr Jacques Michel has served with Credit Lyonnais (then Calyon) from 1996 to 2007 as Senior Country Officer in Thailand and as Chief Risk Officer for the Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong. - PTI
