Barclays Bank opens branch in Ahmednagar

MUMBAI: Barclays Bank on Friday became the first international bank to open a branch in Ahmednagar city, Maharashtra.

With this launch, Barclays Bank now has six branches across the country - Mumbai, New Delhi, Junagadh, Kanchipuram, Nelamangala and now in Ahmednagar. It also has 13 ATMs, a press release issued here said.

“Ahmednagar is home to some of the finest oganisations in the SME sector and shows promise of becoming a hub for enterprising entrepreneurs. We are glad to be able to offer discerning customers in the retail and commercial segments a bouquet of products and services that are in sync with their needs,” Barclays’ Global Retail & Commercial Bank's Interim Managing Director, Mr Ram Gopal, said.

Ahmednagar's large industrial belt encompasses companies that are leaders in pharmaceuticals, sugar and milk factories, as well as manufacturers of various engineering goods.

“Barclays will cater to the needs of leading players in these sectors and also service the needs of a diverse range of retail customers including professionals, salaried individuals as well as entrepreneurs,” the release said. - PTI
