Metlife crosses 10 lakh life insurance policies

NEW DELHI: Private life insurer Metlife on Monday said the number of life insurance policies it has sold has crossed the 10 lakh-mark.

“It is indeed a moment of pride for us at MetLife to achieve the 1 million-mark... This achievement gains all the more significance keeping in view the tumultuous 2008 that the financial sector witnessed,” said MetLife Managing Director Mr Rajesh Relan.

While the insurance industry witnessed difficult times in the past year, MetLife has shown constant growth.

The company, which started its operations in India in the year 2002, is today one of the fastest growing life insurance companies in the country, with a presence in over 690 locations and a market share of 3.5 per cent, MetLife said.

It recently launched a first of its kind Guaranteed Monthly Income Plan and with the launch of Met Monthly Income Plan, it has become the sole life insurance player to provide such a unique guaranteed monthly income plan.

The insurer also brought about some major technology upgradation to further strengthen its customer service platform.

MetLife has close to 70,000 financial advisors who have rigorous training to understand customer needs. - PTI
