The Hindu Business Line : Beljino to set up manufacturing plant in Kerala

KOCHI: Hong Kong-based sanitary brand, Beljino International, would set up a manufacturing plant in Kerala, with an investment of $400,000, a company official said.

The work of the plant, a joint venture with Apex Marketing, the only distributor of Beljino products in India, is likely to begin next year, Wen Hen Fie, Chairman of Beljino International said.

About one acre land has already been shortlisted in Kottayam district, he said. The JV will be in the ratio of 49:51. Beljino is planning another plant at Karnataka with similar investment, he said, adding there were no apprehensions in investing in Ker ala.

Apex Marketing MD Mr Augustine Abraham said the company has around 600 dealers in South India and three exclusive show rooms of Beljino at Chennai, Kochi and Kozhikode. It is planning to appoint another 200 dealers and stockists for Beljino all over Indi a and over 10 exclusive showrooms in South India in connection with its fifth anniversary, he said.

The company had recently begun operations in Andhra Pradesh and planning to extend operations to North India. The turnover from the Indian operations last year was Rs 10 crore and the target for this year was Rs 18 crore, he said. Presently the company' s products including glass wash basins, bathroom furniture, ceramic basins, sauna and ceramic wood bathroom fittings are being imported to India.

Once the plant is ready, only the glass would be imported while the other things would be manufactured in India, ensuring huge savings on costs, he said. - PTI
