Marketing MUMBAI: In a major boost to digitisation of theatres in Malaysia, leading Indian digital theatre chain operator Pyramid Saimira Theatre Ltd (PSTL) on Friday said that it would invest over Rs 12 crore (10 million Malaysian Ringgits) to give shape to the p lans. Pyramid Saimira Entertainment Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a joint-venture of PSTL and Malaysia-based Asian Integrated Industries Sdn Bhd, aims at digitising about 50 theatre screens in the country within two months. "This step creates a paradigm shift in the way the entertainment industry structure will be viewed in Malaysia. An Indian business model and modus operandi is being taken outside India for the first time at such a large scale for films and entertainment sector,'' PSTL Managing Director (India) P S Swaminathan said in a release to the BSE. PSTL, the Indian partner in the joint venture, provides the back end resources for digital display of contents in Malaysia by leveraging its domain expertise and infrastructure. "We believe that this company shall focus on the whole gamut of the entertainment including local content development," Mr Swaminathan added. Meanwhile, Pyramid Saimira Theatre plans to produce their first ever Malay language film ''Berikan Hatimu'', scheduled to be released in September this year. The firm also announced that they would be distribute the Tamil film 'Shivaji'', produced fully in the country for international release. The company bagged the exclusive distribution rights in Malaysia for the Tamil film `Shivaji'. - PTI
