Buddha lays foundation for mega steel plant at Salboni

SALBONI (WB): The West Bengal Chief Minister Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday laid foundation for the JSW Bengal Steel plant at Salboni and appealed to the Opposition not to take to the path of destruction and settle difference through discussions.

“If there is any difference, it should be settled through discussion only,” the Chief Minister said, while laying foundation stone for the 10 million tonnes steel plant of the JSW Bengal Steel at Salboni, the biggest investment project in the state after the aborted Nano small car project at Singur.

In an apparent reference to the Nano project, he said, “if one factory goes, it is the loss of the entire state instead of any individual's loss. Therefore, I say again, come, let us move ahead together.”

Stating that he was not against agriculture, the Chief Minister said, however the state cannot develop on the basis of agriculture alone.

“We must go through the path of industry,” he said.

The Union Steel Minister Ram Mr Vilas Paswan, state Industry Minster Mr Nirupam Sen and JSW Steel Vice-Chairman Mr Sajjan Jindal were also present on the occasion. - PTI
