Govt urged to avoid dual pricing for diesel

COIMBATORE: Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) on Tuesday expressed concern over the Petroleum Ministry's reported proposal to introduce dual pricing for diesel.

In a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr M Karunanidhi, TEA president, Mr A Shaktivel requested him to take up the matter with the Central Government to avoid the dual pricing for diesel used for industrial purposes.

By the proposed move, as sought by the State-owned oil companies, higher prices would be charged for diesel used for industrial purposes, he said and appealed to the Chief Minister to “at least request them for giving exemption to exporting units,” if it was not possible to drop the move.

Identical letters have also been sent to Union Ministers, Messers Murli Deora, P Chidambaram, Kamalnath, Shankersinh Vagela and E V K S Elangovan, a TEA release said here. - PTI
