Special poojas performed in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: Special poojas and aradhanas were performed at various shrines in Puducherry on Tuesday marking the celebration of the `Chithirai Tirunaal` (Tamil month of Chitrai).

People made a beeline to the temples from morning to offer prayers to the presiding deities. Deities of various temples were taken in a procession through important thoroughfares on the occasion.

The Tamil Nadu Governor Mr Surjit Singh Barnala, holding additional charge as Lt Governor of Puducherry and the Chief Minister Mr V Vaithilingam were among those who greeted the people on the dawn of the Tamil year 'Virodhi' today. - PTI
