AP to promote IT industry

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh government said on Friday that it would remove infrastructural bottlenecks and provide a congenial atmosphere for the growth of the IT industry.

Inaugurating the Hyderabad IT Summit 2008, being attended by major IT companies from over 40 countries, the Chief Minister, Mr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said the infrastructural bottlenecks would be overcome in the next 2-3 years with the completion of the m ajor projects in Hyderabad.

Referring to a recent report of the RBI, the Chief Minister said, "Andhra Pradesh is one of the best destinations for setting up an IT enterprise.'' With a series of proactive policies, Andhra has been consistently posting about 45 per cent growth in th e IT sector in the last four years as against 25-30 per cent average national growth rate.

The Chief Minister wanted the IT industry to move out to the Tier-II and Tier-III areas and promised to provide air connectivity to these areas.

"We firmly believe the country's strength lies in its human resources. If we can develop the human resources, no force on earth can beat us,'' he said.

The state Information Technology Minister R Damodar Reddy said the government was planning to tap the vast potential in the animation and gaming sector by floating a special company for the purpose. - PTI
