Plea to take over mineral rich land in TN

NAGERCOIL: Public sector undertaking Indian Rare Earths (IRE) has requested the State Government to take over private land along coastal areas in Kanyakumari district, rich in uranium, monazite, illuminate and thorium.

This would help the rare earth industry as they did not own mineral rich lands, according to Mr Sivasubramanian, IRE Chairman and Managing Director. He told reporters here that IRE had earned a profit of Rs 140 crore through exports last year on sales of Rs 340 crore. – PTI

Prev: Bengal to focus on developing small, medium towns
