Indian traders do good biz at Nathu La

GANGTOK: Indian traders recorded a turnover of Rs 10 lakh in August at Nathu La to take the total business to Rs 26 lakh since the annual trade on Sino-India border was re-opened on May 19.

According to data released by the Sikkim Commerce and Industries Department here, utensils including copper bowls fetched revenue of Rs 9 lakh for Indian traders during four months of trade at the Renquinggang mart.

Other products such as black tea, textiles, woolen shawls, canned food, vegetable oils and cigarettes were in demand from importers. About 60 importers visited the mart daily to buy Indian goods, officials said. - PTI
