Kerala demands Cashew Board

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has already asked the Centre to set up the proposed Cashew Board in Kerala with its headquarters at Kollam, Minister for Labour and in-charge of cashew sector, Mr P K Gurudasan told the state assembly.

The Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, who would be leaving for Delhi tomorrow, would take up this issue with Prime Minister, said Mr Gurudasan while replying to a question to call attention on the need to establish the Cashew Board in Kerala.

Mr Gurudasan said Centre has agreed in principle to set up the Cashew Board under the Ministry of Commerce. However, now it was learned that there were some differences between Agriculture Minister Mr Sharad Pawar and Finance Minister Mr P Chidabaram on the matter, Mr Gurudasan added. PTI
