Bandh paralyses normal life in Sikkim

GANGTOK: The dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and other political parties for various reasons paralysed normal life throughout the State on Monday.

Vehicles were off the road and shops and business establishments closed their shutters due to the separate bandh calls by the SDF, and the Congress and regional party Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad Party (SHRPP).

While the SDF has called for 12-hour bandh to protest the burning of the effigy of the Sikkim Chief Minister, Mr Pawan Kumar Chamling, by Shiv Sena activists, the Congress and the SHRPP have given a bandh call to protest against the alleged “misrule” of the SDF Government. - PTI
