Beyond compensation
AT the University of Copenhagen, in 1969, a group of students broke into the auditorium where some serious, grey-haired scientists were deliberating during a seminar on natural history. After locking-in the venerable professors, the s tudents burnt in the hall garbage they had brought. If that was not enough, they sprayed water from a polluted lake all over the participants and held aloft a duck doused with oil. Their message was, ``stop talking and start doing something t o save the environment.''
