CHENNAI, Dec. 14
THE Chennai Trade Centre, a permanent exhibition centre coming up at Nandambakkam on the outskirts of Chennai, is expected to be inaugurated on January 31, 2001, coinciding with the annual leather fair.
Work is apace on the centre, the first phase of which will consist of two halls covering 6,850 sq.mt. The centre is coming up on a 25 acre site and will have four modules each of 5,000 sq.mt. of exhibition space.
The centre is being put up by the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), both of whom have set up a joint venture called Tamil Nadu Trade Promotion Organisation to manage and operate the
centre.
The halls in the centre will be fully air-conditioned without pillars or columns, thus enabling multi-purpose use for exhibitions, conferences and conventions. Besides space for parking cars, the centre will have meeting rooms, business centre, bank and
food plaza, according to an ITPO press release.
