Hexaware assessed at SEI CMM Level 5

CHENNAI: Hexaware Technologies Ltd, a global software services organisation, has been assessed at Level 5 of the SEI CMM (Software Engineering Institute, capability maturity model). The assessment team was led by SEI authorised Lead Assessor, Mr V. Kanna n of KPMG Consulting.

SEI, a federally funded and development centre sponsored by the US Department of Defence, is to foster improvement in the processes used to develop software, and improve the quality of software itself.

CMM consists of five maturity levels with an organisation demonstrating increasingly more mature software processes as it moves from Level 1 to Level 5.

Mr P.K. Sridharan, Executive Director, Hexaware, said that by attaining Level 5, the company's customers will benefit as a result of fewer defects, reduction in cycle time and improved delivery capabilities.

Adopting CMM has helped the company to prioritise its improvement efforts. The CMM Level 5, which represents the optimising level, is a foundation for building an ever improving capability of a software organisation, he said.

Mr Atul Nishar, Chairman, Hexaware Technologies, said that the company was likely to report a turnover of Rs 150 crore for the year ending December 2000.

For 2001, the company is likely to report a turnover of Rs 250-300 crore, of which around 90 per cent will come from exports. -- Our Bureau
