Provisional duty recommended on analgin from China, Taiwan
THE Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has recommended the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duty on all imports of analgin from China and Taiwan.

No respite from the subsidy burden
THOUGH Mr Yashwant Sinha's Budget for 2001-02 has been hailed for its bold initiatives to carry forward the reform process and its growth-orientation, it makes no efforts to cut down the burgeoning subsidies. What is more disappointing, the subsidy burde n is set to witness a sharp rise in the next fiscal.

Industrial growth dips to 5.4 pc in April-Jan
A STEEP fall in the capital goods sector has dragged down industrial growth to 5.4 per cent in the first 10 months of the current fiscal (April-January 2000-01) from 6.3 per cent in the corresponding period last year.

`Proposed labour reforms will attract more FDI'
THE labour law reforms proposed in the Union Budget for 2001-2002 is a major step forward in the area of full scale implementation of economic reforms in India. After participating in an interactive session with members of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Mr Hiroshi Hirabayashi, Ambassador of Japan in India, told newspersons here that this was an important step for attracting foreign investments into the country, including from Japanese companies, which always felt the need for an ``e xit policy.''
