CFO award from Amex, EIU India

NEW DELHI, June 12

AMERICAN Express and the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) India have come together to institute `The India CFO Awards' to honour senior finance professionals who have demonstrated outstanding capabilities and achievements in the ever-evolving finance fun ction of a corporation.

``Our endeavour is to recognise and reward exceptional financial acumen that has been demonstrated in an environment where the role of the CFO has emerged as a critical success factor,'' Mr Sandeep Shastri, Head-Travel Services Group, India, American Exp ress Travel Related Services, told newspersons here.

He pointed out that there have not been too many opportunities in the past for CFOs to be recognised for their exceptional contribution towards transformation of organisations.

`The India CFO Awards 2001' will be announced in September this year and the awards are open to any CFO (top finance person) of a public or a private company (including banks and financial institutions). An independent jury has been set up to scrutinise the nominations and decide the winners, Mr Adit Jain, Managing Director, EIU India, said.

Besides the `CFO of the year', the awards will also recognise and honour outstanding performance in three other categories - mergers and Acquisitions, cost optimisation and information and knowledge management.
