Industrial estates planned for women
MADURAI: The State Government has planned to establish two industrial estates exclusively for women entrepreneurs within the Madurai Corporation area, said Mr K. Vivekanandan, General Manager, District Industries Centre here.
Addressing a seminar on `Bakery Products' jointly organised by the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) and Tamil Nadu Bakers' Federation and sponsored by the Department of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India, M
r Vivekanandan said importance in the proposed estates would be given to cluster industries in the areas of bread, herbal, readymade garments etc.
He further said that an awareness must be created among the public to take bakery products for breakfast. The Government was giving a special capital subsidy of 20 per cent for those entrepreneurs who started bakery units and they should take every effor
t to product quality products to take on competition from any quarters. Local needs could be better served by them only.
Mr Joseph Lawrence, President, Tamil Nadu Bakers' Federation, in his address, said an industrial training centre for bakery industry with its head quarters at Madurai would soon be established. More than 150 bakery units from all over the State participa
