Fast track
LIC Housing Fin: Safe shelter
LIC Housing Finance (LICHF) is the second biggest player in the market for housing loans. The stock has produced smart returns over last year, so much so that investors may have got better returns by investing in LICHF than in some technology companies. The company currently trades around Rs 35.

Impact
BHEL: Orders flow in
THE order bagged by BHEL from an Australian company is likely to have a favourable long term influence. In the near term, price trends may be determined by the overall market sentiment given the major trading changes in place.

Hero & Bajaj: May skid
The stocks of Bajaj Auto and Hero Honda may show flat trends with possible downside, especially in the former. Hero Honda has reported a growth of 35 per cent in June which may be viewed as lower than what has come to be expected of it.

Stocks
Lyons Range
THE Calcutta Stock Exchange on Monday, the first day of the rolling settlement, saw its turnover drop to Rs 52.23 crore from Rs 133.07 crore on last Friday.

A nervous step into a new system
THE end of the badla regime took its toll on the market on Monday and caused quite a bit of confusion all around.

Technical Analysis
Mild bear domination
INITIAL hours of Monday's trading witnessed bull domination. Later on, the bears took over and washed out the gains made by the bulls during the day.
