Automart India aims at 8% share in used car market

BANGALORE, July 12
AIMING to notch up an eight per cent share in the used car market in India, Automart India Ltd plans to set up 48 outlets nationwide in three years. Though eight per cent looks small, in a highly fragmented and unorganised business of used cars market, t
his will be a significant milestone.
Automart, which already has two outlets in Mumbai and Chennai, will be opening its shops in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh this year.
A joint venture of Mahindra Group, HDFC and automotive dealers Sah Sanghi, Automart India will be launching its third centre in Bangalore on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Vinay Sanghi, CEO, and Mr Vivek Kapoor, Marketing Manager, Automart India Ltd, said with more than 10 manufacturers of automobiles, the used car market has become vibrant. Initially, only Maruti-Suzuki cars do
minated both the new and used car markets.
``We are here to corporatise the business by offering choice, convenience and transparency to a consumer, in order to make an informed buy'', said Mr Sanghi. About the competition from the dominant unorganised sector, Mr Sanghi said Automart's specialis
ed services in providing a basket of unique products which includes unique certification about the vehicle, which is critical for evaluation of the condition and to arrive at its fair price, will make the difference.
Buyers of second hand cars are usually dissatisfied about the condition, documentation and legal encumbrances. With its specialised services to fulfill customer satisfaction, Automart will have an edge, he said.
Recently, Hyundai tied up with Automart for its new car exchange business. It has also entered into arrangements with leading corporates which dispose of its used vehicles in bulk. In Bangalore, where it hopes to sell 1,500 cars every month, it is planni
ng to tie up with Wipro and a few other companies for sourcing the used vehicles.
