Speed Post via Speednet

CHENNAI, July 18
INDIA Post will soon be launching Speednet, a Web-based track and trace package for Speed Post.
Mr John Samuel, Additional General Manager, Business Development Directorate, Department of Post, said that Speed Post is the market leader in the domestic market and has been growing at the rate of 44 per cent.
The package has been developed in-house and aims at better customer service through online tracking of delivery and movement of domestic Speed Post articles.
There are 120 Speed Post centres in India Post and are all have been provided with Speednet. The booking counter will be using barcode stickers on each article booked to facilitate scanning the barcode sticker and put other details into the system.
Speed Post will also be setting up the Speed Post Passport Service. Passports can be dropped off at the acceptance centre. In Tamil Nadu, there will be 14 places where this facility will be available.
Mr Samuel said that the Department of Posts has launched a scheme for corporate mailing. Customised prepaid envelopes with the logo for large corporates will be released shortly. The customer can outsource the envelope directly from the Department of Pos
ts which obviates procuring of the envelope. The minimum quantity for printing will be 10,000.
