50,000 t more onion released for exports
THE Government has decided to release, with effect from July 27, an additional 50,000 tonnes of onion for export. The quantity will be allowed for export upto August 31, 2001. Further, it has decided to extend the shipment period of the unutilised balanc ed quantity, if any, of the earlier 50,000 tonne quota released for export on June 26, 2001 upto August 31, 2001.

`No notification on palm oil import duty cut'
EVEN as market rumours are rife about the Government reducing the basic customs duty on crude palm oil by 10 per cent (from the existing 75 per cent), the Finance Ministry has confirmed that it has not so far issued any official notification to this effe ct.

TN permits TKM-9 rice transport
THE Tamil Nadu Government has permitted farmers and traders to transport and sell TKM-9 variety of paddy and rice outside Tamil Nadu, and has lifted the levy obligation imposed on the variety, according to a State Government press release.

Sugar export may exceed 10 lakh t
A TOTAL quantity of 8.11 lakh tonnes of sugar has been exported from the country from October 2000 till July 23, 2001, the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Mr V Srinivasa Prasad, has said.
