Tata Tea gesture to plasma physics centre

GUWAHATI, Oct. 21

TATA Tea Ltd formally handed over a newly constructed building on Saturday to the Centre for Plasma Physics (CPP), an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Assam.

The Administrative Building for the CPP was constructed at a cost of Rs 35.40 lakh at Sonapur near Guwahati.

Mr Bolin Bordoloi, Chief Executive of Tata Tea in Assam, said that the building was constructed well in time following the laying of stone on April 4 last year.

He informed that the company was trying to contribute towards development of education and other social causes as and when such requests were made by the people in its area of operation. Dr S. Bujarbarua, Director, CPP, expressing gratitude at the gestur e of the tea major, said that two other buildings for laboratories and hostels would be completed soon with assistance from Rajya Sabha MP, Dr Manmohan Singh's local area development fund and Central fund.

The CPP will take full possession of the buildings complex by January next, where it has proposed to convene a national level seminar on Plasma Physics.
