Corporate RSP scripts new records for first nine months ROURKELA: Continuing its focus on utilisation of rated capacity, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) registered its all time best production record during April-December 2007, compared to any financial year since inception of the plant. During December 2007, impressive production was recorded in sinter plant (3,03,044 tonnes), hot metal (1,35,083 tonnes) and crude steel (1,85,434 tonnes) which corresponded to capacity utilisation of 116 per cent for sinter, 115 per cent for hot metal an d its 115 per cent for crude steel, besides 128 per cent for saleable steel, RSP sources said here on Thursday. RSP ended the period April-December, 2007 with all time best performance in major production centres. The production in major areas confirmed to the targets envisaged in the annual performance plan (APP) for this period. While sinter output reached 2.57 million tonnes, hot metal crossed 1.64 mt, crude steel touched 1.54 mt and saleable steel surpassed 1.51 mt, the sources said. Apart from registering growth over corresponding period of last year, the unprecedented volume of production represents extraordinary capacity utilisation of 111 per cent, 113 per cent, 107 per cent and 120 per cent respectively. - PTI
