Sakata Inx Rs 100 cr plant on stream soon

NEW DELHI: Japanese ink manufacturer Sakata Inx's new Rs 100 crore plant in India is to be commissioned within a few weeks and the company hopes to more than double its turnover in the country to Rs 450 crore by 2014.

The first phase of the plant at Panoli (Gujarat) will reach full annual capacity utilisation of 18,000 tonnes by November 2010. Thereafter, the company is planning to start work on the second phase to double capacity to 36,000 tonne.

“Phase I of the Panoli plant will be commissioned within a few weeks. It will have a total annual capacity of 18,000 tonnes and will be fully operational by November 2010,” Sakata Inx India Ltd Managing Director Mr V K Seth said.

He said the new facility would cater to publication and off-set and digital inks segments. “We have a total investment plan of Rs 100 crore for the phase I of the plant, of which Rs 50 crore has been spent so far. Once phase I is fully operational, we wi ll start work on phase II which will double the total capacity,” Mr Seth said.

The company has a plant at Bhiwadi (Rajasthan) with an annual capacity of 16,000 tonnes that manufactures inks for flexible packaging, publication and off-set segments. The $1 billion Sakata Inx Inc is the world's fourth largest ink maker with a presence in over 15 countries. Sakata Inx India is its wholly-owned subsidiary. - PTI
