Markets Sensex slips MUMBAI: The BSE benchmark Sensex on Friday lost 106 points and dipped below 17,000 level in early trade on funds selling, triggered by weak Asian markets. However, it recovered some of the losses in the first hour of trade. At 11.55 am, the Sensex was trading at 17,033.43, down by 47.22 points from its previous close of 17,080.65. Initially at the opening, the Sensex had fallen by 106.03 points to a low of 16,974.62. The S&P CNX Nifty, on the NSE, touched a low of 5,039.65 before being quoted at 5,058.75, down 13 points from yesterday's closing level. Marketmen said reports of weakening trends in Asian stock markets mainly dampened trading sentiments here. Traders feel further rise in the inflation rate would impact the sentiment. Major losers today were Reliance Industries, ONGC, Reliance Energy, Larsen and Toubro, Jaiprakash Associates, ITC, Infosys Technologies, SAIL and Tata Steel. - PTI
