Dal prices up

CHENNAI: Prices of urad dal, moong dal and gram dal moved up, while sugar moved down. All other commodities remained unchanged in the wholesale foodgrains market here on Wednesday.

Urad dal and moong dal moved up by Rs 100 each a quintal to Rs 6,000 and Rs 6,300 against the previous rates of Rs 5,900 and Rs 6,200 respectively. Gram dal edged up by Rs 50 a quintal to Rs 2,850 against the previous rate of Rs 2,800. Sugar moved down b y Rs 50 a quintal to Rs 3,200 against the previous level of Rs 3,250. Thoor dal, wheat, maida and sooji remained unaltered.

Following are Wednesday’s prices (all rates in Rs/quintal): Urad dal Rs 6,000, moong dal Rs 6,300, gram dal Rs 2,850, sugar Rs 3,200, wheat Rs 1,700, maida (90 kg) Rs 1,600 and sooji Rs 1,700. – PTI
