Mentha futures recover on short-covering

NEW DELHI: Mentha oil prices recovered marginally in the domestic futures market today on the back of short-covering as demand in the spot markets picked up.

Mentha for the most-active February contract gained 0.61 per cent at Rs 546.40 per kg on the Multi Commodity Exchange. The contract recorded a business volume of 49 lots.

Similarly, mentha for March-month contract rose 0.50 per cent at Rs 539 per kg in trading of two lots, while January delivery climbed 0.41 per cent to Rs 542.50 per kg, with trading of 198 lots.

Market experts said short-covering by speculators after demand picked up in the spot markets helped mentha oil prices to recover. They said, however, subdued export demand restricted gains. – PTI
