MMTC to sell 1,700 tonnes Australian dunpeas

NEW DELHI: State-run MMTC on Wednesday floated bids for sale of 1,700 tonnes of Australian dunpeas in the domestic market.

Bids will close on October 9 and the decision on the tender will be taken by October 16, the company said on its website. MMTC said it would sell dunpeas grown in the 2008 crop year in Australia and bidder should quote for a minimum 100 tonnes.

Currently, pulses are lying at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. MMTC and other public trading agencies PEC, STC and Nafed import pulses on behalf of the government as production is short of demand by 3 million tonnes. - PTI
