Neelam Kapur assumes office as PIB head

NEW DELHI: Ms Neelam Kapur, the 1982 batch Indian Information Services (IIS) officer on Wednesday assumed office as head of Press Information Bureau (PIB) here.

Ms Kapur succeeds Mr Umakant Mishra, who retired yesterday. Prior to her appointment as the DG (media and communications), Ms Kapur has held various posts in different media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In her long-spanning career, she has been DG of Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP), Director of Directorate of Film Festivals, and Registrar of Newspapers.

Ms Kapur has also worked in NACO and handled publicity for ministries of finance, information and broadcasting, and water resources in her previous stint at PIB. - PTI
