JHM Interstate Hotels plans big in India

NEW DELHI: JHM Interstate Hotels Ltd, an international third party hotel management company, plans to bring 35 properties under its fold in the next five years in India and is in advanced stages of negotiation with hotel owners for the same.

“We are planning to manage about 35 properties in the various star categories in the next five years,” JHM Interstate Hotel India Managing Director, Mr Anil Bhandari said.

The company, which is a 50:50 joint venture between US-based hotel real estate investor Interstate Hotels & Resorts and JHM Hotels, an independent developers and owners of hotels in the US, has already announced its first contract for a 124-room property in Vishakhapatnam to be launched under the Double Tree brand of Hilton.

The Vizag hotel, owned by Andhra Pradesh-based real estate developer Sarath Kumar, would be operational by March.

Mr Bhandari said the firm is talking to hotel owners and would sign deals for four hotels in the next two months.

It has also signed two hotels in Gujarat one in Surat and another one in Ahmedabad. The company also plans to own hotels in India through its investment arm, Duet India Hotels Ltd, a UK-based, real estate investment fund. - PTI
