SBI officers in MP, Chhattisgarh to strike work on Tuesday

BHOPAL: Around 4700-odd officers of the State Bank of India (SBI) will strike work on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Chhattisgarh to press for the immediate transfer of the Bank's Chief General Manager (Bhopal Circle), among other demands.

“We are going to observe a token strike in 918 branches of SBI spread in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on May 26 to press for the immediate transfer of Bank's CGM Bhopal Circle, Mr D K Jain among other demands,” SBI officers' Association (Bhopal Circle comprising MP and Chhattisgarh) President, Mr Samir Banerji and General Secretary, Mr K N Sharma said here today.

They alleged that Mr Jain has turned “arrogant and was creating problems for the SBI's officers.”

The SBI Bhopal Circle management with Mr Jain at the helm of affairs was transferring officers twice or thrice in a year, Mr Banerji said adding that some of his colleagues had been transferred on flimsy grounds within two-three months and their salaries have been withheld.

“A deep-rooted fear psychosis is gripping the SBI officers of the Circle,” he said. He said that the officers were being called to the meetings and seminars on Sundays and holidays, adding that leaves were not being sanctioned to them even in case of dea ths in their families. - PTI
