Govt/States Gujarat govt to construct 4-lane highway at Waghodiya VADODARA: The Gujarat Government will be constructing a four-lane highway in and around Waghodiya in the district due to the huge industrial investment taking place there, Vadodara District Collector, Mr Vijay Nehra said. For construction of this four-lane highway, Suzlon Energy has already invested more than Rs 400 crore for setting up of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the area around Waghodiya, Mr Nehra said. The BJP MLA representing Waghodiya assembly constituency Madhu Srivastav had demanded for four-lane highways, he said. Gujarat Revenue Minister, Mr Anandiben Patel, during her visit to Waghodiya, said it has been the policy of the government to provide infrastructure facilities to these areas for attracting more industrial investment which can provide jobs. Besides, Mr Patel also accorded approval to this project on the spot and work on the construction of this highway will begin during this fiscal. The project is estimated at Rs 14-crore, Mr Nehra said adding the 18 kilometres stretch road between Vadodara and Waghodiya will be converted into four-lane highway. Companies such as Apollo tyres, Munzal Auto Industries and Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and others are located in the GIDC estate at Waghodiya, Mr Nehra said. The construction of highway will facilitate smooth transport, he added. - PTI
