Govt/States MP to set up development agencies for two regions BHOPAL: To ensure growth of Vindhya and Mahakoushal regions of Madhya Pradesh, the Government has decided to constitute two development authorities. The agencies would be headquartered at Rewa and Jabalpur respectively for Vindhya and Mahakoushal. A dec ision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday, government spokesman and PWD Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya told reporters here. The authorities will have a budget of Rs 10 crore each under the 11th Plan (2007-12. Besides Chairman and Vice-Chairman, the two authorities will have one third of the elected MLAs of the region as members on rotation basis, he said. The Commissioners and Collectors of Jabalpur, Rewa and Shahdol divisions will be the permanent special invitees of the authorities with their Chief Executive Officer (CEOs) as Member-Secretary. The government will also nominate members in the authorities . The Cabinet also decided to waive off VAT on the footwear up to the cost of Rs 250 as demanded by rural and tribal people and give tax exemption on vehicles up to 1,000 cc specially made for the physically-challenged. Besides, the cabinet has given i ts approval to the formation of two new divisions of PWD at newly constituted Singrauli and Alirajpur districts. - PTI
