Left urges Govt not to seek IAEA safeguards pact

NEW DELHI: The Left parties asked the Government on Wednesday not to seek approval of the India-specific safeguards agreement with the IAEA.

The Left leaders, who met here after a meeting with the Government was postponed today, said they have not been given a copy of the draft safeguards agreement with the IAEA and are not in a position to form an opinion.

However, the Left parties maintained that they were opposed to the Indo-US nuclear deal. - PTI
