Slow download

V.K.P. Ayyar

I have an Internet connection with Outlook Express for mail. The Default Mail account is ethnet mail, and a second account is of Hotmail. While the ethnet mail gets downloaded in a matter of seconds into the Inbox, the time taken for downloading and transferring to the Inbox, in the case of Hotmail, is a matter of a few minutes. This not only keeps the Internet connection `on', but also proves a frustrating experience. What can I do to address this problem?

Solutions by NIIT

The problem has two aspects to it. One, you have a slower modem. Two, the bandwidth of your ISP is clogged with too much traffic.

In the first case, you can improve the situation by installing a high-speed modem, a 56 kbps is what is suggested. You can also install softwares such as NetAnts, which can also increase the downloading speed. NetAnts is designed to maximise downloading by making multiple FTP or HTTP connections, each of which will download a separate part of a single large file. You can download this software from the following URL: - http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-3282264-100-6606862.html?tag=just_in

In the second case there isn't much that you can do.
