Forms for you

There are several applications available on the Net that simplify the tedious task of handling forms, especially when it comes to creating them for a Web site. This week's pick of software is all about forms.

Form-Processor 1.0

This script processes information submitted by an HTML form. The most basic function of the script is to e-mail you the results of the form.

Other options are also available, including the ability to write the form information to a database, create a database of e-mail addresses and send the user an automated e-mail reply.

form-to-mail 1.0

This is a CGI written for Unix which allows you to accept a HTML form's input and send it to an e-mail, as well as save it to a HTML, database-importable or any other kind of file.

Any number of fields can be placed in the form, and you can force users to fill out particular fields before allowing the e-mail to go through.

Form Return 3.0

This script can be used to run a visitor survey page on your Web site and have each user's survey entry mailed directly to you and a confirmation mailed to the visitor as well.

The file includes simple instructions, the CGI script, and a sample Web page. Set a few variables in the CGI script and upload the script to your bin directory at your Web site.

Then telnet login into your site server, do a `chmod 755' on the script file to make it executable, and you are ready to start receiving various surveys from visitors.

Of course, you also need to create a survey Web page that calls the script. This is a good place to start to tap into the power of CGI scripts on your Web site.
