It sure is short-changing

Dear Sir,
I write this with reference to ``In defence of the Indian software user'', a letter which appeared in the ByteBack column of eWorld dated November 21, 2001.
The letter, from a reader, N.S. Srikanth, Thiruvananthapuram, has correctly pointed out that for many products, including software, Indians are being short-changed. Here is another instance:
Last year I was able to buy electronic diaries with 32 KB memory of Sharp-make for less than $7 in the US. On returning to India, I found that comparable items cost over Rs 1,500 here. Similar is the case with many other products -- scanners, zip drives, fax machines, printers, etc.
