•  VIPA eyes 5% of automation market
VIPA GmBH, a solutions provider for the automation industry, is eyeing a five per cent market share in India by 2005. The company, which started its Indian operations last year, planned to set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in the long-term, said Mr Santos h Mehra, CEO, VIPA India.

•  Acusis plans to invest $5 m more in India
ACUSIS, a US-based medical transcription company, is planning to invest $5 million more in the Indian operations in 2002. The company, which set up its back-office operations in India a few months ago, had already pumped in $8 million in creating the nec essary infrastructure, said Mr David Iwinski, CEO, Acusis.

•  BSNL to connect 1.45 lakh villages in 2002
BHARAT Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will be bringing 1.45 lakh villages under its network during 2002. While 1.30 lakh will be covered by its rural wireless in local loop (WLL) network by June, the remaining 15,000 villages will be covered through satellite telephones by December, according the BSNL Chairman and Managing Director, Dr D.P.S. Seth.

•  Frontier bags Saudi order
HYDERABAD: Frontier Information Technologies Ltd (FITL), the city-based software services and training company, has announced that it has bagged a healthcare software contract from Saudi Arabia-based Al-Hammadi Hospital, a 250-bed private hospital.

•  Enterasys' system for Asian Paints
BANGALORE: Enterasys Networks, a provider of enterprise networking solutions has announced that Asian Paints had chosen its networking technology to set up the data networking infrastructure.

•  Xavient sets up facility in Delhi
BANGALORE: Xavient Technologies, a US-based IT solutions provider for the electronics and semi-conductor industry, has set up an offshore development facility in New Delhi.

•  Indo-Fuji opens office in Singapore
BANGALORE: Indo-Fuji Technologies Ltd, the Bangalore-based middle-ware application and systems software company has expanded its operations in the Asia-Pacific region by opening an office in Singapore.

•  RS Soft to reduce workforce
KOLKATA: Kolkata-based RS Software (India) Ltd has announced its decision to reduce the strength of its global workforce by between 12 and 15 per cent in response to the ``technology meltdown.''
