Jet Airways to pay 6.9% on basic fare to travel agents
Our Bureau
CHENNAI, Nov. 8
JET Airways has altered the structure of the commission paid out to travel agents effective November 16.
According to sources, the airline will now be paying 6.9 per cent on the basic fare against the earlier 6 per cent on the basic fare and inland air travel tax.
Of the three components of the air fare - the basic fare, the inland air travel tax (IATT) and the passenger service fee- (PSF) the airline was paying commission on the first two.
While the IATT is 15 per cent of the basic fare and would vary from destination to destination, the PSF is Rs 200.
Airline sources said that the change in structure will not, at present, effect the net payable to the travel agent. However, in the long run, if the Government increases the IATT then there are chances that the agents' incomes would be reduced.
