New container freight station at Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM, Nov. 15
CONTAINER traffic at Vizag is set to get a significant boost, with the first Container Freight Station (CFS) slated to be inaugurated on November 21.
Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), which has a network of 467 warehouses with a combined capacity of 85.61 lakh tonnes and 30 CFSs and Inland Container Depots (ICDs), will be operating the Vizag CFS.
The CFS will be the third facility being operated by CWC in Vizag, the other two being the warehouses with a total capacity of 67,830 tonnes.
The Vizag CFS, which has been set up in a covered area of 2,800 sq. m. and equipped with facilities to handle and store reefer containers, complete with office accommodation for shipping lines and custom house agents, will be inaugurated by the Vizag Port Chairman, Mr S.R. Rao.
