Feb. 2: Reliance MF displaces UTI as largest fund house

Reliance Communications crosses the Rs 1 lakh crore market-cap.

Sensex closes at 14,403.77, adding 136.59 points.

Feb. 6: The Securities and Exchange Board of India bans the initial public offering of Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd, a subsidiary of Gammon India, for one year.

Feb. 7: The National Stock Exchange revises the contract size for 64 securities in the derivative segment.

Feb. 9: The Sensex loses 113.19 points after hitting the all-time high of 14,724 to close at 14,538.9.

Feb. 12: The BSE-30 Sensex 348.20 points or 2.39 per cent to close at 14,190.70 points while the S&P CNX Nifty closes down 3.08 per cent at 4,058.30 points.

Feb. 14: JP Morgan gets SEBI approval for mutual fund business

Deutsche Borse picks up 5% stake in BSE for Rs 189 cr

Feb. 15: The BSE-30 Sensex bounces back 345 points to close at 14,355.55, up 2.47 per cent. NSE S&P CNX Nifty index ends at 4,146.20, up 2.45 per cent.

Feb. 16: UTI Mutual Fund launches UTI Gold Exchange Traded Fund (Gold ETF), an open exchange traded fund to track the performance and yield of gold.

Essar Shipping and Logistics Ltd says it will buy back the remaining 23.54 per cent of the fully paid-up Essar Shipping Ltd from shareholders, the floor price of Rs. 31.62 for each share on the basis of average 26-week high and low closing price on the BSE.

SEBI has slapped a fine of Rs 1 crore on DLF Commercial Developers Ltd, for trading in the shares of Bhorukha Financial Services Ltd at the unrecognised Magadh Stock Exchange (MSEA) from August 1 to August 12, 2005.

Feb 21: SEBI lifts ban on Centurion Bank of Punjab for DP operations

Feb. 22: Morgan Stanley and JM Financial announce that they will be ending their seven-year partnership in the investment banking and securities businesses.

Kotak Asset Management Company ties up with US-based T. Rowe Price to launch a fund that would invest in T. Rowe Price Funds SICAV - Global Emerging Markets Equity Fund, enabling Indian investors to get a taste of emerging markets.

Feb. 23: The BSE Sensex plunges to its lowest in over a month. The Sensex closes lower for the fourth straight session at 13,632.53, down 2.77 per cent or 388.78 points. The NSE S&P CNX Nifty falls 2.5 per cent to close at 3,938.95.

The conversion price for the 12-crore preferential warrants in Reliance Industries Ltd to be issued to its promoters is fixed at Rs 1,402 per share.

Feb. 28: The Budget fails to enthuse market participants on a choppy day and the Sensex sheds close to 540.74 points to 12,938.09. This is the biggest fall on a Budget day in the past five years.
